In the production area of the printing factory, the floor would have to tolerate heavy footfall, weight from heavy printing machinery, point loading from pallets and the potential for ink spillages. Regular exposure to such weight and potential contact with chemicals can lead to extensive damage of the floor’s surface over time. To ensure that the specified solution was up to the task at hand, the client consulted flooring experts Flowcrete India.
3,550 m2 of the high-gloss, self-smoothing epoxy resin Flowshield SL was used in the production area. This system is ideal for use in dry process areas and provides hard-wearing resistance to footfall, pallet truck and rubber wheeled traffic.
Ideal for the printing industry, Flowshield SL has non-dusting and non-tainting properties, as well as being hygienic and easy to clean. This helps to reduce the likelihood of dust effecting print finishes, and allows any potential ink spillages to be cleaned up quickly and easily to minimise slip hazards.
Due to its high-gloss nature, the material also looked attractive in more recreational spaces of the facility, and provided an enhanced finish to break-out areas.
Thanks to a substrate with few undulations, the installation went smoothly and was completed within the 25-day time restriction set by the client. The facility was able to open on schedule and showcase its new state of the art production area.
