Close to 5,000 square metres of Flowcrete materials have been used to provide a protective floor coating system for Swiss major, Starrag Group, at the company's new plant in Bangalore, India.

Located at the KIADE Aerospace Park close to Bangalore airport, the new facility will focus on building WMW Machining Centres that manufacture ferrous parts for aerospace frames, subsystems and components, compressors, earthmovers and a host of other construction, agriculture and engineering equipment.

After having previously used epoxy flooring and been dissatisfied with the volume of scratch damage, Starrag India was ardent that it should have a more resilient flooring solution for its new state-of-the-art facility. Preferably with a matt finish.

Following a detailed evaluation process, which included site visits to local facilities where Flowcrete materials have been successfully installed, Flowcrete India's hardwearing and highly durable polyurethane system, Flowfresh MF, was selected to coat the 4,800 square metre plant.

Flowfresh MF is a 4mm system that offers clients a smooth and seamless finish. Containing a natural antimicrobial additive, Polygiene - which eliminates surface bacteria on contact - the material is a popular choice for environments where hygiene is critical.

In order to ensure additional strength and protection, the Flowfresh MF system has been sealed with a clear UV-stable resin top coat, Flowseal UV (WB) also from Flowcrete India. 

The building was officially opened by the company's chairman, Walter Fust, in January and represents the first European organisation to open a Greenfield manufacturing facility in Banagalore.
