The HUL facility located out of Khamgaon operates a production arm for goods being exported out of India. This includes a state-of-the-art aerosol deodorant manufacturing plant, which represents just one of 30 new facilities being built to service the emerging Indian and South Asian markets.
Due to the danger of ignition, resulting from the explosive mixture of gas, vapour, spray or fine dust with air, it was essential that the new facility featured a flooring system capable of dissipating static charge. Flowcrete India recommended the use of its seamless epoxy flooring system, Peran ESD SL for installation in the facility's 2000 square metre Packing Hall. Offering an antistatic, hygienic and self-smoothing finish - compliant with BS 2050 - Peran ESD SL is an ideal choice for dry process areas where static needs to be safely dissipated.
A further antistatic system, Flowshield ESD SL was chosen for the plant's Process Building, Pre weight Area & Common Passages. Installed across a combined area representing 550 square metres, Flowshield SL is well suited to areas subject to pedestrian and pallet truck traffic. With both systems, any electrical static charge is directed
through the floor along integral copper strips into two earthing rods, to ensure a safe working environment.
For areas where static control posed no risk - including the MCC Room and Substation Building - a self-smoothing seamless epoxy floor coating, Flowshield SL, was selected. Prior to the installation of any floor finishes, scarifying of the existing concrete slab across the entire 2,500 square metre area was carried out in order to remove any contamination and achieve a surface profile suitable to receive a seamless resin floor screed. Flowcem, a 3 component damp proofing underlayment, was then installed to allow for early installation of the final finish as well as to smooth out any undulations on the surface of the substrate.
