Success for the First CII Flooring Conference

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), alongside supporting organisations and partners, have successfully concluded its first technical flooring conference, of which Flowcrete India was a co-sponsor.

The event, entitled ‘Industrial and Commercial Flooring – Technology, Trends and Innovation’, was held on the 27^th and 28^th September at the Chennai Trade Centre and was a fantastic opportunity for the attending delegates to learn about the best practices, the latest technologies and the stellar achievements of enterprises in the sector. The conference particularly highlighted the flooring industry’s future leaders and potential disruptors.

The event brought together an interdisciplinary group of professionals working across the industry’s various areas. The tone was set during the opening remarks by Mr M.V. Satish, Chairman of the National Conference on Industrial & Commercial Flooring and Senior Executive Vice President of Larsen & Toubro Ltd, who presented the key statistics for the topic ‘The Status of Indian Flooring’.

Over the two days, more than 40 experts in the field shared their knowledge with 400 attendees. Presentations were delivered on the latest commercial floor finishes for both internal and external areas and some of the topics that were discussed by notable speakers from both Indian and international companies included: approaches to complex application issues; flooring technology and equipment, different materials, their benefits and what they are suitable for; the importance of design; industry standards; engineering processes; automation in the global industry as well as quality testing, control and assurance.

An important subject at the conference was floor maintenace, as this is a critical part of any material in order to prolong its lifecycle. A separate session on floor repairs, rehabilitation and upgrading was therefore organised, which was chaired by industry experts.

Being the co-sponsor, Flowcrete India was at the heart of the event and very active throughout. The Vice President of Flowcrete India, Vivekenandan Margasahayam, was one of the key programme committee members and presentations were delivered by not only Mr Vivekenandan but also by Flowcrete’s Technical Director, Grant Adamson, as well as Euclid Chemical’s Product Manager for Increte Systems, Diego Lopez.

Flowcrete’s team of resin flooring experts manned a stall during the conference to showcase the wide range of high performance Flowcrete and Euclid Chemical products that are available to the Indian flooring market.  

Throughout the event many of the delegates voiced their appreciation for the fact that they could easily share information, skills and ideas as well as have the opportunity to network with a long list of useful contacts that could be utilised in their day-to-day working activity.

While this was the very first edition of the CII’s Industrial and Commercial Flooring Conference, it was a major success for all involved, who were able to take a lot of positive knowledge and discussions away with them at the end of the sessions.
