New Innovations Explored at 2017’s SEWC

26 Sep 2017

  • Attendees to the SEWC discovered Flowcrete India’s new construction chemical solutions.
  • Flowcrete India sponsored the event which proved highly successful.

This year’s Structural Engineers World Congress (SEWC) covered major aspects pertaining to contemporary technical and professional issues affecting the structural engineering profession worldwide and to highlight the profession's overall impact and how it interacts with society.

The SEWC has been successfully conducting international symposiums in different parts of the world since 1998. 2017’s event in Bengaluru provided an ideal platform for architects, structural engineers and construction professionals to engage with each other and learn more about what is currently happening in the wider industry and what the trends are for the future.

This year’s three-day event was focused on being an international colloquium on architecture and how it interacts with the sustainable built environment, with a special focus on “Why Concrete’’. Approximately 700-800 delegates attended the show, with 24 specialists from around world participating as keynote speakers.

Flowcrete India attended an exclusive workshop on the subject “Earthquake Resistant Structures”, which was presented by a renowned consultant from the USA. Over the course of the event, Flowcrete India’s expert team engaged in the overarching conversation on new emerging designs and technologies that are being introduced to the global construction market to make structures more elegant and environmentally friendly.

Flowcrete India was proud to associate itself as a sponsor of this symposium and gave a presentation on construction chemicals. The presentation and Flowcrete India’s prominent stall introduced a number of new Euclid Chemical and Flowcrete technologies to the Indian construction market.

Concrete plays a vital role in all branches of civil engineering. However, as concrete production contributes 5% of annual anthropogenic global CO2 production, there have been several global innovations to minimise the impact of this vital but environmentally unfriendly material. The resulting developments in new concrete additives could lead to the production of a stronger, more workable and sustainable material with less harmful emissions.

This point was underlined at the SEWC by the popularity of the concrete admixtures, densifiers, sealers and coatings that are now available to Indian architects and developers from Flowcrete India.
